Learning Sight Words Made Easy

I am so excited to share my sight word home to school program.  I call it Fill your Tub – with sight words.

This is a sight word program that will greatly complement your other sight word activities in your classroom.  There are some materials and preparation that is involved in getting this program started, but it will be well worth the effort!!

The program uses the Dolch sight words.  This is the list that is recommended to be used for common core learning.  The Dolch word list has the most common words that are encountered in children’s books.  Sight words are critical in early reading development because most are hard to sound out or to illustrate.
I have added it to TPT so that it can be added to you "tool belt" to use with your students.

Back To School

What a busy two weeks we have had!!  We have finally gotten everything together and had our first day of school.  It has been a sad time at our school due to a tragedy that has hit our faculty, but together we have pulled together and made the first days special for all of our students.

I was so honored when I was asked to present to our district kindergarten teachers on Thinking Maps.  It was so much fun to see some old friends and I even made a few new ones!  I was able to share my Thinking Map Graphic Organizers and how I use them to go along with common core LA.

Here are a few pictures after I set up the room.  Thank you Sugar Creek Elem. School for hosting the kindergarten teams from all over our district!

I do have my unit on TPT on Graphic Organizers if you want to have more information.

Birthday Celebrations In Your Classroom!!

I am so excited about our Birthday Celebrations this year.  I have put some of our special activities to celebrate in a short activity pack for your use.  I added a common core writing activity for my students to tell their classmates all about their celebration.

Wait until you see your students faces!!!

Number Posters

I am getting so excited about a new year!!  I have begun my sleepless nights earlier than usual.  My mind is just constantly thinking about all the new possibilities with a new group of students!!  I can’t wait.  I am headed to mu school again tomorrow to put some items back on the walls.  We can’t move our furniture yet because our cleaning has not taken place.

As I was looking over what need to go up, I wanted to share my Common Core Number Posters.  I use the Funky Frame Set!!  I love the multi colored boarders.  Knowing that some of you may want a different type of boarder, I put two more sets together with just a different boarder.

Hope you can use one of them!!  They are great!

Beginning Of The Year - All About Me Unit

I can’t believe summer is almost half over!!  I have been busy getting my middle child graduated from high school and ready for college, my oldest child settled in from college and watching my youngest as she has been involved with volleyball and basketball scrimmages.

I have been back and forth between home and school a couple days a week working on preparing for the new year.  I have been working on some new and exciting things!!!  I am already excited and having sleepless nights as my mind is busy with “I need to..” ideas.

I have been going through my beginning of the year files and getting really excited!! During late nights, I have been able to get a All About Me Unit, and a quick Gingerbread Hunt activity together.  I think this is what got me so excited about the new year already!!

These are the older units I have been going through. I can’t wait until my room has been cleaned so I can get in and set up all my furniture and get going!!

Plants

Wow, what a great time we have had!!  We love watching our plants grow.  I can’t wait to get to school tomorrow and see how much our plants have grown.

Here are a few things happening in our room! Many experiments are going on at one time.  It is a busy place.

Our Greenhouse Garden!!  We have our bulbs in here.

This is our self-watering seed container.  In the past my children  have had a problem with over watering, but this has helped.

We have learned about the parts of a plant and the lifecycle of a plant.

What does a stem do??

We learned about Common Core measurement in math.   What FUN!!

I have put all of these and more in my TPT Unit.
